NC Stream Watch Registration

I am so glad that you are interested in joining us for NC Stream Watch! To register, email me – Danica Heflin – at dheflin@ptrc.org with “ACW Stream Watch” in the Subject. In the body of the email, include the date and location of the Orientation you wish to attend, and let me know how many people from your household will be with you. I am your lead instructor for all NC Stream Watch Orientations during Creek Week, and I would love to answer any questions you have. Upon confirming your registration, I will let you know exactly where we will be meeting for the session you selected.

Is NC Stream Watch for Me? We often start by saying that NC Stream Watch is for anyone age 8 and above, but that doesn’t begin to cover it! We scheduled these morning sessions to encourage people of all ages to connect with nature and learn about stream health, including retirees, college students, and individuals who are unable to attend afternoon and evening sessions. Participants will be required to walk short distances on easy trails, as close to the stream bank as is safe and comfortable for you. We will walk along the creek to assess the habitat, conveyances, and trash density. For Orientations, only the instructor will enter the water if needed for sampling, but you will still want to wear comfortable shoes that can get wet in case it rained in the days prior. If you plan to walk in tall vegetation, wear appropriate clothing. Bring what you need to be comfortable, which may include water, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, hat, jacket, etc. If you have any questions or concerns, please let Danica know by emailing dheflin@ptrc.org
